Programs & Assistance
Help Is Here When You Need It Most
The Foundation helps individuals and families facing cancer keep their water, sewer, and gas services active — so they can focus on treatment and recovery, not bills.
Our Assistance Programs
Every program we offer is designed to meet families at their point of need — quickly, with dignity, and without judgment.
Water & Sewer Bill Assistance
Direct financial assistance to help qualifying households maintain active water and sewer service during a cancer diagnosis. We work with the Wedowee Utilities Board to apply funds quickly — often within 24–48 hours of approval.
Gas Bill Assistance
We help cover past-due or current gas bills for qualifying cancer patients and their families, ensuring heat and cooking access are not lost during an already difficult time.
Service Restoration Support
If your water, sewer, or gas service has already been disconnected, we can help cover restoration fees and past-due balances to get your service back on as quickly as possible.
Who Qualifies?
Our programs are designed specifically for individuals and families experiencing financial hardship due to a cancer diagnosis. A documented loss of income and demonstrated financial need are required to qualify. We do not turn people away based on past history — we meet people where they are.
- Resident of Randolph County and a Wedowee Utilities Board Customer
- Currently diagnosed cancer (patient or immediate family caregiver)
- Documented loss of income directly related to cancer diagnosis or treatment
- Demonstrated financial need — household income at or below the federal poverty level.
- Past-due or at-risk water, sewer, or gas bill in your name
- Not received assistance from the foundation in the past 12 months (exceptions apply)
- Willing to provide basic documentation (ID, diagnosis verification, proof of income loss, and current bill)
Our assistance is limited to water, sewer, and gas bills for accounts associated with The Water, Sewer & Gas Board for the Town of Wedowee (Wedowee Utilities Board). If you need help with other expenses, we will do our best to connect you with the appropriate local resources.
